Rethink Events hosted the sold-out Future Food-Tech summit in San Francisco this week with record numbers of delegates.

This year’s theme focused on transforming innovation and investment in food: From plant-based proteins to personalized nutrition and the microbiome. Alongside a packed program of interactive panels and technology pitching sessions, hundreds of 1:1 meetings took place between delegates and potential partners/clients.

“What’s undeniable is that the way consumers interact with food, and the expectations they have of food is changing,” says Jennie Moss, Founder of summit organizers Rethink Events. “Meeting growing demand for healthy, safe and sustainably sourced foods demands innovation throughout the food industry, and today’s Future Food-Tech summit featured truly cutting edge ideas from the leading food brands, entrepreneurs and investors in the space.”

With an expert panel of speakers, including Margaret Dohnalek of PepsiCo, Mary Kay James of Tyson New Ventures and Mark Matlock of ADM, the sessions sparked healthy debate around the opportunities and obstacles to transforming our food system through technology.

The summit also saw eight early stage food technology start-ups take to the stage to present a seven-minute snapshot of their solution to VC investors. The Technology Showcase sessions were chaired by Victor Friedberg, Co-Founder and Managing Director, S2G Ventures, and the line-up included; Memphis Meats, KnipBio, Geltor, GreenOnyx, SnapDNA, Sample6, NextFerm and Ynsect.

Following the great success of Future Food-Tech San Francisco, Rethink Events are returning to New York with its sister summit on June 7-8 which is set to host its biggest delegation yet.
